Winter Watershed Walk
Family-friendly
interpretive hike led by JSU Field Schools’ botanist, Bobby Floyd. Learn to identify winter trees and how critters survive

Wilderness Survival
101
Let your instincts come alive and learn to survive. Captain Jerry Mize (JSU Department
of Military Science) will teach hands-on methods of basic survival skills dealing with water, shelter, food, fire and getting
found. Skills are similar to those shown on popular TV. This program will be outside, hands-on, hiking, collecting materials
with hands so wear appropriate clothing for a cold winter day in the wilderness. Participants will be sitting on the ground,
crawling on the ground as necessary, and will get “dirty” so to speak. Dress in layers. Bring your own lunch,
snacks and water/drink.

Mountain streams, ravines, longleaf pines, and beautiful
water falls! Join JSU’s Renee Morrison and Anniston Outdoor Association’s Joan Alexander for the first hike of the season on this lovely portion of Alabama’s longest hiking
trail. Bring a daypack with water and snacks. Be sure to check weather forecasts and dress accordingly. Easy hike.
